Custom Aquaponics Farm Design

Our DIY packages contain an incredible amount of information on how to design and set up your own aquaponics farm and greenhouses. However, if you want to be certain the design is done right, by design professionals who also run an aquaponics farm for a living, we’d be happy to help.

Our Custom Farm Design is an all-inclusive design service that gives you expert assistance in designing your ultimate farm build-out. If you intend to do commercial aquaponics, and want to plan now for more than just a single small greenhouse, this is the way to do it.

Although your farm may not need all these things, Custom Farm Design covers access roads, parking, turnaround areas, greenhouse layout, aquaponic system layout, plumbing and materials lists, harvesting and planting areas, Value-Added Processing building, walk-in, storage, office space, employee locker and break room, and even more. We put them all together so the work flow on the farm is as efficient as possible, with everything considered and planned for in advance.

And the best news? You don’t have to build it all at once! If your goal is to establish cash flow as soon as possible, we will design your farm to be built in phases, so you can finish the first phase and get some money coming in while you are building Phase Two.

(Below) Our custom farm design service ensures that you get the right greenhouses and commercial aquaponics systems in the right place on your farm.A large (512 sq ft) Family diy aquaponics system in a greenhouse.

We start with your requirements, and I put together a layout that allows you to build your farm in phases according to your budget and cash flow. We focus on getting an aquaponics system operational ASAP to generate cash flow to build the farm from. Doing it this way reduces your reliance on either debt or going into your savings to build the farm, gives you the necessary experience at a small scale, and has other important benefits, such as giving you produce to start test marketing in your area.

Our custom aquaponics system design service will help you produce fish like this, as well as profitable produce.

This $4,995 package also includes the Friendly Commercial Aquaponic Solar Greenhouse Package, which includes our Commercial Aquaponics DIY package; this is EVERYTHING we know! (a $295 value!).

The example I used to illustrate this in our 5-day live trainings (last one in 2019, sorry), was: “Imagine, when you go home from this training, you have 20,000 square feet of greenhouse with aquaponics system inside, fish in the tanks, sprouts in the tables, ready to go. Will YOU be ready to run it?”

Everyone in the room looks doubtful and shakes their heads at this point, even though this IS their goal.

Then, I say: “So who would you hire to run it?”. Everyone looks even more doubtful, and are starting to wonder if they came to the right class. So I say: “You’d hire someone who is experienced, knowledgeable, and confident. Only no such person exists, because aquaponics is so new. You have to become that person, and that takes time. The easiest way is to start small, and build and operate a small aquaponics system right away when you get home”. And then I elaborate on what that would look like.

Most custom farm designs I’ve done include a small aquaponics system, sometimes in a separate small greenhouse, so the client can begin getting that experience, knowledge, and confidence right away without spending much money.  This system is always useful later for ongoing test grows and for any experiments the owner wants to try.

I worked as an architect for nearly 20 years before beginning aquaponics, and am highly experienced in site layout and the various buildings a farm might need; one of the things I do best is help my clients understand what their choices are, based on the pros and cons of each choice.

And if you’re wondering if you might “mess this up”,  I’ve got a comment about how EASY it is to GET IT RIGHT with our Custom Farm Design:

I got an email from Jim (just Jim, no last name) in 2012; the subject line was: Yay! We just got organically certified!. Now this was great news, but when I looked through my back emails, I couldn’t find Jim, nor could I find him in my database of purchasers.

This is someone who had never emailed me before, and who was now announcing that he’d gotten something certified organic. After ten minutes of fruitless searching, I finally emailed Jim back and said: That’s great news! But who are you and what the heck did you get certified organic?.

It turned out his wife had purchased our DIY Commercial Aquaponics package under her credit card and email, and they simply hadn’t ever needed to contact us for support; that is why we didn’t have Jim’s email in our information. They didn’t need us because they’d simply followed directions in the $195 package they’d purchased (this was back before we offered greenhouse information too), and here’s the result:

They’d built a 4,000 square foot greenhouse with 2,800 square feet of aquaponics trough inside it, had gotten it USDA Organically Certified after operating commercially for eight months, then emailed us with the good news.

This has happened more than once; and we often find out about our successful students when someone emails us and says: Did you hear about so-and-so? Are they one of your students?. This is because our material is so accurate, comprehensive, and easy to understand that people are successful in duplicating what we’ve done simply by reading our manuals, watching our slideshows, and following directions.

How It Works:

To begin our custom farm design process, we will send you a questionnaire via email, you will fill it out and return it, then we will call to go over the answers to the questions. Answers to these questions will help me get pointed in the right direction faster, and allow me to give you better options and advice. You will use this document as a scratch sheet to write ideas on; don’t worry about making it a “polished presentation”. Think about it awhile, then type answers into the document after each question, and email it back to me. If a question doesn’t apply to your project, just put “N/A” by it.

Don’t worry about drawing out sketches of your buildings or farm, or trying to figure out floor plans, or how things “go together”; my experience in that area is why you hired me. After you answer these questions, I will have a concept drawing back to you promptly that will reflect answers to all these questions. Our process is so easy, it’s kind of like going to a nice restaurant; you don’t need to be a 5-star chef. You just tell me if it “tastes good” or not, and I adjust accordingly to make it right. This is the easiest design process ever for beginners to be involved in; I did this professionally for 20 years before becoming involved in aquaponics.

You get custom plans and our commercial greenhouse and aquaponics manuals with a custom aquaponics system design.

You also receive our complete Commercial Aquaponic Solar Greenhouse package, plans, and DropBox files, including our unparalleled unlimited lifetime support.

We feel strongly that this custom aquaponic system design package will save you ten times this much (at least!) if you are venturing into commercial aquaponics. We’re the experts, and we’re different! We’ve actually done it, and have the answers you need to build and operate your aquaponic business profitably!

A Friendly Testimonial:

Hi Tim, My son, Carl and I attended the training in Texas this year. Just to give you an update. The Sunday after the training, I was coming home from the church I pastor and passed by a co-op that has several greenhouses out front that seemed not to be in use anymore. I drove through to check them out and they were not in use.

A couple of months later,.....we are now the owners of the 7 greenhouses and all that comes with them! We were able to purchase them all for only $2800. My son and I begin deconstructing them on Thursday.

I'm attaching a couple of photos for you to look at them. They have propane heaters, roll up sides, boxes and lights for electricity, fiberglass front and rear walls, and a lot of odds and ends that I believe will come in handy.

I am so glad we listened when you spoke on ways to find greenhouses without spending a fortune. It has been tempting to just "jump in" but I'm glad we waited.

Thank you and many blessings, Rob Rolison

(Below) About $50,000 worth of greenhouses and equipment that Rob Rolison and his son Carl picked up for $2,800 after we explained how to do so in our March 2016 Texas 5-day training. They're going to disassemble them and reassemble at their farm. If they'd bought them new, they be at zero now; another way to look at this is that they have $47,200 to spend on the aquaponics systems to go inside their greenhouses.
